)The new "off the grid" is living entirely via deferred compensation, stashed away tax sheltered $$ and social security. Who cares who taxes whom how much or how little or even what jitbag (or jitbaguette) gets elected? All the words about who's good or bad are meaningless compared to living by avoiding debt, at least elective debt. Prophesy is spitballing, living based on prophesy is lottery lust. Hats are unsoiled until somebody shits in them so fuck hats. When Garrett Morris sang "gonna buy me a shotgun and shoot every whitey I see" on SNL, we laughed because we knew then the deck is stacked and the game is rigged and whiteys could laugh because they're whiteys. So by ignoring voices who are paid to say what they say, you can pretty much figure out that "off the grid" doesn't mean living like Ted Kaczynski - it means if you don't like the uneven revised rules of the game, stop playing. It's so easy to fall into the trap that the rest of the world is inferior but running with the big jingoists here is reality denial with high potential for self-destruction. Life really is about farting around. Disclosure: I'm a geezer who pays whatever taxes the IRS says I must, live within my means and drink $5 a bottle wine.
This was originally a pretend rant to one of those lefty vs. righty arguments in NY Mag. At least the words get written down when I pretend and as Judy the psych used to say "you have all the appearances of someone who feels trapped." Sermonettes keep the non-reptillian part of my brain from atrophying. And I get to laugh when I reread them. Another 'skip workout' day - physical = <5 . . popped a mo. Free at last.
