Most everybody knows where they were when Kennedy was shot. I know where I was on January 12, 1962 when Ernie Kovacs died in a car crash. I was waxing my bishop to a photo of Edie Adams, ironic? Just when there was about to be a binaca blast, the news came on. I lusted for Edie but I really like Ernie. His Nairobi Trio impression wearing a gorilla mask always made me laugh. And Percy Dovetonsils predated Charles Nelson Reilly by years. The humor in the 50s was there but you had to search for the off-beat. Edie made wood in Mad Mad World being in a ripped dress for half the movie, something nobody would even yawn to in today's gynocological depictions called sexy. Doesn't matter - and who cares about retrospectives on steamy visuals. Now that I think of it, I probably resumed auto-loving later that day. Death of a comedian can't thwart a healthy teen for very long.
