How does one find himself in Peekskill NY in the 50s? Funny story - we're driving on Rt. 9 heading for the Blue Mountain camp grounds and deciding to continue on to pick up some wine, we end up in the first town and suddenly the silent engine in our Pontiac becomes loud and stops in the middle of town. We're talking 1956 now and cell phones - what cell phone? - don't solve the problem, so we get out and walk to the nearest, well, anything that resembles help in this situation. The first place that looks like it may have a pay phone was the community hospital and while making the call to the first towing company I hung up and walked toward the maternity ward. The delivered babies were there on view and I spoke to a guy who said his name was Hutton. He pointed to his son who eerily looked like baby Jesus in the nativity play at St. Bartholomews. I said nothing but carried that image internally until I saw Lethal Weapon on the big screen 31 years later and the baby Mel Gibson, now an adult filled the screen. I was there.
