It's January 9, 1956 and I'm reading the morning paper and my eye catches a new column, Dear Abby. The picture of Abby looks hauntingly familiar . . . that's Po-Po from Morningside College in Sioux City. She used to write an advice column with her sister Eppie back in the 30s. I continue to read what she wrote and she answers this kid from Harrisburg, PA who whines about classmates making fun of him (maybe it's because your sundress doesn't match your US Keds, Marvin). Abby tells him to blow off his critics just like Po-Po used write when co-eds would ask about cute boys that didn't notice them. I just had to confirm that Abby was indeed Po-Po so I tried calling the newspaper but they referred me to her syndicator. I decided to call my old Morningside bud Glen and he said he knew nothing about Po-Po but he had her twin sister Eppie's phone number. I called her and she said she was "not speeaking to Pauline" and hung up. I had this brainstorm and got Glen to help me. Without boring you with the details, we got Eppie and Po-Po in the same restaurant under the guise of a reunion of the staffers from the Collegian Reporter, Morningside's student run paper and the Friedman twins were reunited. In case you're wondering one was Esther Pauline and the other is Pauline Esther.
